LGBTQ+ Resources

We are people from all walks of life. We are people of varied race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, economic situation, and level of ability, all welcome to fully participate in the life and ministries of this congregation.

All Are Welcome at Peace

Peace’s commitment to welcoming LGBTQ+ people in the church and world extends beyond welcoming words. As participants at Manatee Pride, we’ve included the community’s artwork on rocks in our Peaceful Path and on our Communion table runner. We affirm LGBTQ+ youth and candidates for ministry. We’re always looking for new opportunities to share God’s expansive love for creation, so feel free to share your ideas with us!

Denominational Resources

For more information about the history of LGBTQ+ rights in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), visit the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s summary on ministry with LGBTQIA+ people.

In 2018, the PC(USA) overwhelmingly voted, “LGBTQIA+ people have faithfully, lovingly, and courageously served in every kind of service to which Christian disciples are called—notwithstanding the church’s efforts to exclude them from particular types of service.”
