Presbyterian Mission
This national ministry arm of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) aims to inspire, equip, and connect the church in three main areas:
1) Evangelism and discipleship
2) Servant leader formation
3) Justice and reconciliation
Peace Mission
Peace serves these aims through its commitment to be a Matthew 25 congregation, serving those considered the “least” in our community. We take our call to feed the hungry, house the stranger, clothe the naked, and visit the sick/imprisoned very seriously.
We recognize that we have been blessed, and in turn we want to bless others in the name of Jesus Christ. We regularly look for important needs in our community, country or around the world. Our members support Presbyterian denominational missions and local nonprofit organizations. We get involved with mission partners in many ways, including volunteering, making monetary gifts, donating supplies, and serving as board members. We give a meaningful portion of our operating budget to mission each year and encourage our congregation to be cheerful and generous givers.
We currently support these mission partners:
Beth-El farmworker ministries
Cedarkirk camp and conference center
Family Promise
Habitat for Humanity
manatee rotary — books for Kids
Meals on Wheels Plus (which includes Manatee Food Bank)
Presbyterian Mission agency/presbyterian disaster assistance
Turning Points
Example mission projects include
Assisting in the food pantry at Beth-El Farmworker Ministries to alleviate hunger
Working in the day resource center, organizing donation drives, and supporting special projects/events at Turning Points to help alleviate and prevent homelessness
Conducting food drives and delivering meals for Meals on Wheels Plus (and Manatee County Foodbank)
Helping build a home for a family with Manatee County Habitat for Humanity
Organizing a CROP Walk to raise funds for hunger relief
Working with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance to assist with hurricane cleanup
Assisting with reading programs and book distribution with Books4Kids to raise student reading levels
Serving or providing a meal in the soup kitchen at Our Daily Bread or for a family at Family Promise
Peace promotes and participates in the four Presbyterian church-wide Special Offerings each year:
One Great Hour of Sharing for worldwide disaster relief
The Pentecost Offering for programs supporting children and youth at risk
The Peacemaking Offering for ministries of justice and understanding
The Christmas Joy Offering for the support of retired church workers and racial/ethnic ministries
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
